Two men in court over death of James Morrison in Blantyre

James Morrison James Morrison died in hospital on Sunday

Two men have appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court in connection with the death of a young man nine days after he was taken to hospital.

James Morrison, 26, died at Hairmyres Hospital in East Kilbride on Sunday after a disturbance in Auchinraith Terrace in Blantyre, South Lanarkshire, at 22:00 on 23 August.

Francis Croft, 46, was charged with murder, assault to injury and assault to severe injury. A 23-year-old man, also named Francis Croft, was charged with assault.

Both men, who are from Blantyre, made no plea or declaration and were remanded in custody.

Last week Anthony Brown, 37, from Bothwell in South Lanarkshire, appeared in court in connection with the same incident. He was charged with assault, attempted murder and assault to injury.
