A section of the M8 motorway in North Lanarkshire has reopened after a lorry overturned near Harthill.

The eastbound carriageway was closed at J5 Shotts for a period on Wednesday afternoon, with traffic being diverted off at the slip road.

Traffic Scotland said the lorry had been removed from the carriageway and a clean-up operation had been completed.

The incident is estimated to have added about 30 minutes to journey times between Glasgow and Edinburgh.
