Uplawmoor woman, 84, named as fatal accident victim

The woman pensioner who died following a road accident in East Renfrewshire has been named.

Jean Forsyth, 84, of Neilston Road, Uplawmoor, was a passenger in a Citroen C3 which collided with a Skoda Octavia on Fereneze Road, Barrhead, at 16:15 on Thursday.

She died at the scene.

The 91-year-old male driver of the Citroen was treated in hospital for minor injuries and later released.

The 25-year-old Skoda driver and his two passengers, aged five and eight, were treated in hospital for minor injuries and later released.

Police said enquiries into the cause of the crash were ongoing and appealed for witnesses to get in touch.
