Woman, 84, killed in two car crash in Barrhead

An 84-year-old woman has died following a two car crash in East Renfrewshire.

The woman was a passenger in a Citroen C3 which collided with a Skoda Octavia on Fereneze Road, Barrhead, at 16:15 on Thursday. She died at the scene.

The 91-year-old male driver of the Citroen was treated in hospital for minor injuries and later released.

The 25-year-old Skoda driver and his two passengers, aged five and eight, were treated in hospital for minor injuries and later released.

Police said enquiries into the cause of the crash were ongoing and appealed for witnesses to get in touch.
