Man and woman die after head-on crash near Oban

A man and woman have died and several other people - including three children - have been injured in a head-on crash involving two cars in Argyll.

The collision happened on the A85, just outside Connel, north of Oban, at about 18:30 on Thursday.

The woman, aged 74, who died was a back seat passenger in a blue Honda CRV. The man, aged 32, who died was a front seat passenger in a blue Vauxhall Vectra.

Both died at the scene. Police have appealed for witnesses.

A 32-year-old woman who was driving the Vauxhall Vectra was taken by helicopter to Glasgow's Southern General Hospital, where she is in a critical but stable condition.

Three children, aged two, five and 14, who were also in the car were treated for minor injuries at Oban Hospital.

The 51-year-old woman driver of the Honda CRV and two other female passengers, aged 49 and 46, were also treated for minor injuries at Oban Hospital.
