Four arrested over death of Craig McSporran in Linwood

Police investigating a murder in Renfrewshire have arrested three men and a woman.

Craig McSporran, 31, died after being attacked close to his home in Bridge Street, Linwood, in the early hours of Monday. His friend was seriously injured in the attack.

A 30-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man have been arrested and detained in connection with the incident.

Two other men were charged with perverting the course of justice.

They were aged 22 and 23.

All four arrested people are expected to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court on Monday.

Police said Mr McSporran and his 32-year-old male friend had both been in a bar in Bridge Street earlier in the evening and left at about 00:30.

They were making their way along Bridge Street towards Bridge of Weir Road and Fullwood Avenue when they were subjected to a "terrible and vicious" attack, officers said.

Both victims were taken to hospital in Paisley, where Mr McSporran died a short time later.
