A 69-year-old man has died after his car collided with a lorry near a busy junction in Renfrewshire.

The man's Ford Ranger and the HGV collided on the eastbound A737, near the St James Interchange in Paisley, at about 05:55.

Fire crews cut the man from his car but he died at the scene. The 63-year-old lorry driver was unhurt.

Police have appealed for witnesses and said a report on the crash would be sent to the procurator fiscal.

The eastbound carriageway on the A737 remained closed from Linwood to the M8 at J29 St James in Paisley for almost nine hours for accident investigation work.
