Man sought over indecent assault in Linthouse, Glasgow

Police are hunting a man who sexually assaulted a woman in Glasgow.

The 23-year-old victim was attacked while walking along Mallaig Road, near Shieldhall Road, in the Linthouse area, at about 00:45 on Sunday.

Police said the man approached the woman and touched her inappropriately.

He is described as of Asian appearance, about 6ft tall, with gelled, wavy hair, bushy eyebrows and a mole on his left cheek. He was wearing a blue jumper with a red motif on the left hand side.

'Very distressed'

Det Insp Alan McAlpine, of Police Scotland, said: "The woman was returning from a night out with friends when she was assaulted by this man. Thankfully, although very distressed, she managed to get home and call police.

"Whilst Mallaig Road is residential, it is also quite busy even at this time of night. The woman screamed at the suspect to get away so it is very possible that someone may have heard her.

"He made off on foot so he may have been in the area either prior to or after the incident. He is quite distinctive, someone must recognise him."

Det Insp McAlpine said high visibility police patrols had been deployed in the area to reassure the public.
