Six injured as bus hits East Kilbride phone box

Six people have been injured after a bus crashed into a telephone box in East Kilbride, South Lanarkshire.

Firefighters rescued the driver after using cutting equipment to free him from the vehicle. He was taken to Hairmyres Hospital to be treated for head injuries.

The five other casualties, passengers on the bus, were not seriously injured.

Strathclyde Fire and Rescue Service said the crash happened at about 13:30 in the Calderwood area of the town.
