Deliberate fire at Orange Hall in Cumbernauld

A fire which damaged an Orange Hall in North Lanarkshire at the weekend was started deliberately, police have said.

Emergency services were called to the hall in Smithyends, Cumbernauld, at about 05:20 on Saturday.

Crews from Strathclyde Fire and Rescue extinguished the blaze shortly afterwards. No-one was injured.

Strathclyde Police said an investigation had been launched into the incident, which is being treated as "wilful fire-raising".
