Woman, 84, robbed outside shops in Castlemilk
Police have appealed for witnesses after an 84-year-old woman was robbed as she walked with her husband in the Castlemilk area of Glasgow.
It happened in Dougrie Drive, outside the Brae's Shopping Centre, at 11:20 on Saturday.
The woman was pushed to the ground by a man who grabbed her handbag.
She was not injured but she and her husband were left badly shaken. Police described the incident as "a cowardly attack on a defenceless woman".
The thief ran off in the direction of Dougrie Terrace with the bag, which contained a small amount of cash.
He was described as wearing a black hooded top and was of average height and build.
Det Con David Somerville from Strathclyde Police said: "At the time of the robbery, Dougrie Drive would have been busy with motorists and pedestrians, and I would urge any witnesses to the robbery, or anyone with information that may assist police enquiries to come forward to police."
