Teenager hurt as car drives at group of people

A teenager was taken to hospital after being struck by a car which police said was driven deliberately at him.

The 16-year-old suffered head injuries when a car mounted a pavement and drove towards a group of up to 15 people in Glenmanor Avenue, Moodiesburn.

The group scattered but the vehicle hit the teenager, who was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment.

Police said the incident, which took place at about 22:10 on Saturday, was being treated as attempted murder.

The teenager's condition was described as stable.

The vehicle involved in the incident was a blue car, possibly a Honda Civic.

Strathclyde Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
