Star names to attend 2013 Glasgow Film Festival

Some of Hollywood's best-known actors and directors are expected to attend this year's Glasgow Film festival.

Quantum of Solace's Gemma Arterton and Hanna star Saoirse Ronan will join director Neil Jordan for their mother-daughter vampire thriller Byzantium.

Avengers Assemble director Joss Whedon is also expected at the UK premiere of his film Much Ado About Nothing.

The festival, now in its ninth year, runs from 14-24 February and includes 368 film screenings and other events.

Among the 57 UK premieres showing at the festival are Stoker, starring Mia Wasikowska and Nicole Kidman, and The Place Beyond the Pines, which reunites Ryan Gosling with Blue Valentine director Derek Cianfrance.

Other highlights include Arbitrage, featuring Richard Gere; Mama, starring Jessica Chastain; and The Paperboy, with a Golden Globe-nominated performance by Nicole Kidman alongside Matthew McConaughey.

Scots actors James McAvoy and Peter Mullan star in the UK premiere of thriller Welcome to the Punch.
