Legal aide Arlene Reid admits £87,000 fraud charges

A woman from Ayrshire has admitted embezzlement and mortgage fraud totalling more than £87,000.

Arlene Reid, 37, committed the offences while working as a paralegal at Bell and Co solicitors in Kilmarnock.

The town's sheriff court heard how she defrauded the Alliance and Leicester into releasing £64,371 by pretending she was buying her council house.

Reid, from Irvine, also stole £23,000 in cash from her employers. Sentence was deferred and she was freed on bail.
