Man, 27, held after car and cash seized in Glasgow raid

A man has been arrested following a police operation in Glasgow which saw officers seize £116,000 in cash and a Mercedes car worth £80,000.

The raid at the house in Pollokshields, at about 06:30 on Wednesday, was part of a probe targeting individuals suspected of defrauding cash from people.

The 27-year-old man was held in connection with alleged money laundering and fraud-related offences.

He will be the subject of a report to the procurator fiscal.

'Strong message'

Strathclyde Police said officers from its major crime and terrorism investigation unit were involved in the raid.

They seized the cash and car under the Proceeds of Crime Act.

Det Insp David Perrit said: "This operation sends a strong message to those intent on carrying out serious crimes in our communities that they will not get away with it.

"We will do everything in our power to disrupt those who are involved in serious and organised crime and make money from their criminal activities, thinking nothing of the harm they cause in the community."
