Man, 56, dies after being hit by car in Greenock

A 56-year-old man has died after being struck by a car in Inverclyde.

The man was crossing Inverkip Street, Greenock, when he was hit by a southbound black Peugeot 407 at about 18:10 on Wednesday.

He was taken to the town's Inverclyde Royal Hospital but died later. The driver was uninjured.

Strathclyde Police have appealed for witnesses to the incident to get in touch. A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.
