Stephen Newman, 44, jailed for abusing five young boys
A man who was convicted of sexually abusing five young boys over a 15-year period has been jailed for 14 years.
Stephen Newman, 44, from Beith, North Ayrshire, carried out the abuse between December 1986 and August 2001.
During his trial earlier this year, the High Court in Glasgow heard how Newman forced his victims to drink alcohol and threatened them with violence.
At the High Court in Edinburgh, judge Lady Dorrian told Newman a custodial sentence was unavoidable.
Newman's trial heard that he began abusing his first victim in December 1986 at an address in Springburn, Glasgow, when his victim was aged 13 years old.
His youngest victim was aged eight when Newman started abusing him in August 1992.
