Two men charged over death of Rafal Sojka in Airdrie

Two men have appeared in court charged with assaulting a 38-year-old man who was found dead in North Lanarkshire.

The body of Rafal Sojka, from Airdrie, was discovered at a flat in the town's South Bridge Street at about 10:50 on Sunday.

Grzegorz Baczmanski, 31, and 39-year-old Mariusz Slwomir Trzcinski appeared at Airdrie Sheriff Court.

Both men, who are from Bellshill, made no plea or declaration and were remanded in custody.

They each faced one charge of assault to severe injury and four charges of assault to injury.

The case was committed for further examination.
