Firefighters tackle blaze at Newmilns factory

Fire at Newmilns factory The fire broke out at the disused factory building shortly before 16:00 on Monday

More than 30 firefighters tackled a blaze at a disused factory in Newmilns in Ayrshire.

The emergency services were called to the fire at the building in Brown Street at about 16:00.

The roof had collapsed. Six appliances were sent to the scene to bring the blaze under control.

A spokesman for Strathclyde Fire and Rescue said the operation was expected to last for "some time". There were no reports of injuries.
