Man found seriously injured outside Campbeltown fish and chip shop

A man has been found seriously injured outside a take-away in Campbeltown.

A member of the public alerted passing police officers to the man discovered outside Crew Fish and Chip shop in Longrow at 01:35 on Saturday.

The 54-year-old was taken to Campbeltown Hospital then transferred to Glasgow Southern General, where he remains in a serious condition.

Strathclyde Police said inquiries were under way to establish how the man came to be injured.

The man was described as white, Scottish and was wearing blue jeans and a dark jacket.

Det Supt Keith Philip said: "At the moment we are trying to establish how the man came to be injured and I am appealing for anyone who was around the Longrow area of Campbeltown and may have seen a man matching the description above to contact me.

"Longrow is a main road in Campbeltown and I am sure there would have been people returning home from a night out who might have seen or heard something that can help our inquiry."
