Arrest over Stewart Gillespie's death in Paisley

A 28-year-old man has been arrested and is in police custody in connection with the death of Stewart Gillespie in Paisley.

The 53-year-old died on Wednesday. Police found him with fatal injuries after they had been called to an incident in the town's Glencairn Road.

Mr Gillespie had previously served a life sentence for the murder of Mark Rennie in Paisley in 1996.

The arrested man is expected to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court on Monday.
