Andrew Gardiner jailed for sexually abusing two girls

A man has been jailed for six years and five months for sexually abusing two girls after plying them with Babycham.

Andrew Gardiner, 55, pleaded guilty to carrying out the abuse at a house in Ardrossan between 1994 and 2000.

He abused one girl between the ages of five and 11 and another between the ages of 12 and 16.

Gardiner was caught after one victim's mother raised abuse allegations with him in a telephone call. His subsequent confession was recorded by the woman.

Some time later, one of his victims also phoned and Gardiner also confessed to her.

Jailing him at the High Court in Glasgow, judge Lady Stacey told Gardiner: "You pled guilty to a course of conduct involving two girls both under age and one of them very young, taking place over a period of years and I regard this was very serious and damaging to the complainers."

She added: "I am of the view you are a danger to young girls."

Gardiner will be supervised for three years after he is released from prison.
