Incident scene on Mill Road, Hamilton Police have closed off Mill Road in Hamilton while officers investigate the incident

Two men have been stabbed and another has been injured in a brawl involving up to five people in Hamilton.

Police were called to reports of a large-scale disturbance outside the Co-op shop in Mill Road at about 08:05.

Two men, aged 22 and 20, were later treated for stab wounds at Hairmyres Hospital in East Kilbride. They are in a serious but stable condition.

A 30-year-old man was taken to Wishaw Hospital and released after treatment. Police have appealed for witnesses.

Det Insp David Tassie, of Strathclyde Police, said: "We do not believe that this was a random assault.

'House disturbance'

"Our enquiries so far indicate that there was a disturbance in a nearby house earlier in the morning, which spilled over into the street just after 0800 hours.

"Officers are carrying out door-to-door enquiries in the area and checking CCTV to identify all those involved."

Det Insp Tassie appealed to anyone who was in the area at the time, and who may have information, to contact police.

Mill Road was closed for almost eight hours while police investigated the incident.
