Men held over robberies in Inverclyde and Renfrewshire

Two men have been arrested in connection with three armed robberies in Inverclyde and Renfrewshire.

The raids happened within three hours on Wednesday and targeted Ashton Stores in Gourock, Sparin Wemyss Bay and Howwood General Stores in Howwood.

Police said staff at the shops had been threatened with a knife before either cash or cigarettes were stolen.

Two men, aged 19 and 23, are being held. They are expected to appear at Greenock Sheriff Court on Thursday.
