A woman has been injured in a plane crash on the Isle of Mull.

The Cessna aircraft flipped over after its front wheel dug into the ground as it touched down at the Glenforsa airfield at about 11:30.

The pilot, a 49-year-old woman, suffered minor facial injuries and a 47-year-old male passenger was unhurt. They are understood to be from Essex.

The woman was taken to Dunaros Hospital in Mull then transferred by helicopter to the Southern General in Glasgow.

Strathclyde Fire and Rescue said the occupants were removed from the plane before fire crews arrived at the scene.

The fuel tanks were isolated and the area was cordoned off until the arrival of the Air Accident Investigation Team.
