Hamilton street stabbing victim in serious condition

A 28-year-old man is in a serious condition in hospital after being stabbed in the street in Hamilton.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which is being treating as attempted murder.

The victim was on his way to visit a friend at about 17:00 on Saturday when he was attacked on Low Waters Road, near to a block of flats between Morris Street and Burnblea Street.

He was taken to Hairmyres hospital for emergency surgery.

Strathclyde Police said they did not know whether he was assaulted by one person or a group.

Det Insp David Scott added: "We are currently trying to piece together the events leading up to the serious attack on this man.

"Low Waters Road is a very busy route through Hamilton, and at 17:00 on a Saturday afternoon there is no doubt that someone would have seen something that might be able to assist us with our inquiries."
