Appeal after dog walker attack in Glasgow's Bridgeton area

Police are appealing for witnesses after a four men armed with weapons attacked a dog walker in Glasgow.

The suspects carried out the assault after getting out of a silver-coloured Ford Transit-style van in Crownpoint Road, Bridgeton, at 17:00 on Monday.

They then got back in the van and made off towards Fielden Street.

The male victim, 45, was treated at the city's Royal Infirmary. Police believe the driver of a red van, in Crownpoint Road at the time, may have information.

'Unprovoked attack'

One of the suspects is described as white, about 40 years of age, about 5ft 10in tall with black curly hair.

There are no further descriptions of the other suspects.

Det Con Alan Moir, from Strathclyde Police, said: "This seems to be a completely unprovoked attack on this man in a street which would have been particularly busy with pedestrians and cars and I am urging anyone who was in the area and saw the attack taking place or a silver Ford transit style van to contact officers as soon as possible.

"I am particularly interested in speaking to the driver of a red van who was in Crownpoint Road at the time of the attack as we believe he may have information which may help with the inquiry."
