Man dies after being hit by car on A85 in Oban

A man has died after being struck by a car on the A85 in Oban in Argyll.

Police said he was hit by a Vauxhall Vectra near to the Pennyfuir Cemetery in the town at about 04:50.

The man died at the scene. The 54-year-old car driver was uninjured but left in an extremely shocked state.

Officers are carrying out inquiries to identify the man and have appealed for witnesses to come forward. The road was closed for several hours while investigations were carried out.
