Brian Warnock sentenced for Knightswood Secondary shooting messages

A teenager who used a social networking site to urge others to go to a Glasgow school and shoot people has been given a community payback order.

Brian Warnock created a Facebook page encouraging violence at Knightswood Secondary in the city's west end.

The 19-year-old, from Knightswood, pleaded guilty to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner between 26 August and 16 September 2011.

At Glasgow Sheriff Court he was ordered to carry out 180 hours of unpaid work.

'Extremely foolish'

The court heard that Warnock was caught after the Facebook page was seen by Knightswood Secondary's deputy head teacher who notified police.

They traced him to his home in Glasgow's west end and he later admitted posting the comments.

Passing sentence Sheriff Alan Mackenzie told Warnock what he did was "extremely foolish".

He added: "You have appeared to have suffered certain consequences, in that you have lost an apprenticeship because of this folly."
