Car stop near Abington Services nets £280K cannabis haul

A man has been arrested after cannabis resin with a street value of about £280,000 was seized from a car on the M74 motorway in South Lanarkshire.

Police said they found 95kg of the drug when they stopped the car near Abington Service Station at 16:15 on Thursday.

This led to a search of a house in Bathgate, West Lothian, where 1kg of unidentified white powder was found.

The 47-year-old driver who was arrested is expected to appear at Lanark Sheriff Court on Monday.
