Woman's death in Barmulloch suspicious, police say

Police are investigating the discovery of a woman's body in Barmulloch in Glasgow on Friday night.

Strathclyde Police said the woman had serious injuries and was declared dead at the scene in a house in Leadburn Road.

The death has been treated as suspicious and officers have been gathering CCTV footage from the area.

Police, who are appealing for witnesses, were alerted to the woman's body at about 21:50.

Det Insp David Mackie, the officer in charge of this investigation, said the inquiry was at an early stage.

He said: "Forensic officers are ongoing at the scene and detectives will continue to carry out door-to-door enquiries.

"I am appealing to people living in the local area, who may have unwittingly seen or heard something, which could assist us in our investigation to get in touch.

"Any small piece of information could prove significant."
