Man, 23, dies after car hits tree on A71 Loudoun Road at Newmilns

A 23-year-old man has died after the car he was travelling in hit a tree in East Ayrshire.

The Peugeot 207 left the A71 Loudoun Road, Newmilns, at about 02:55 on Sunday and hit a tree before coming to a halt on the carriageway.

Emergency services were called and the man was taken to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock, where he later died.

Police said inquiries were continuing into events leading up to the crash. They have appealed for witnesses.
