Man found unconscious in Paisley lane 'critical'

A man is in a critical condition in hospital after being found unconscious in a lane in Paisley

The 43-year-old was discovered by passers-by lying in Marshall's Lane at about 00:10. He was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital.

Police said he had been in the nearby Turf Tavern earlier in the evening, but it is unknown how he came about his injuries.

Officers have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.

The man had suffered a head injury.

Det Insp Julie Henry of Strathclyde Police said: "We have yet to clarify how the man came about his injuries. We know that he had been in the Turf Tavern on Saturday evening but do not know if he was in the company of others.

"He was wearing a blue top with a motif and blue jeans.

"Marshall's Lane is literally outside the Tavern and I would appeal to anyone who was in the Turf Tavern and has any information that could assist in this investigation to come forward."
