Rupert Murdoch ignores 'scum' challenge from Tommy Sheridan's mother

Mrs Sheridan challenged Mr Murdoch outside News International's Glasgow office

Media tycoon Rupert Murdoch has arrived in Scotland to talk to staff at his newspapers.

Mr Murdoch was challenged by the mother of former MSP Tommy Sheridan, Alice Sheridan, who claims her phone was hacked by the News of the World.

Mr Murdoch declined to talk to her. Mrs Sheridan shouted "scum" as Mr Murdoch entered his Glasgow offices.

Mr Sheridan was jailed for perjury during his successful defamation case against the News of the World in 2006.

He was freed last month after serving just over a year of his three-year sentence in prison.

Mrs Sheridan told BBC Scotland: "I said to him why were you authorising the tapping of my phone.

"And he said what he always says - absolutely nothing."
