Man who died after two-car collision in Ayr named
One man has died and another is in a critical condition after a crash in Ayr.
Both men were taken to Ayr Hospital, but one of the drivers, Robert McPike, 52, from Tarbolton, died shortly after admission.
The 20-year-old driver of the second car is still being treated at the hospital and is in a stable condition.
Strathclyde Police said the crash happened on Saturday at about 17:15 on the B743 at St Quivox.
Mr McPike was driving a Citroen Berlingo and the other man was in a Renault Clio.
A spokesman for the force said: "Extensive inquiries are ongoing into the cause of the crash, and the road was closed for 11 hours to allow an investigation to be carried out.
Police are appealing for witnesses or anybody with information to come forward.
