Brian Webster, 66, dies after being hit by van

A 66-year-old man has died in hospital after being hit by a van in Renfrewshire on Thursday.

Brian Webster, from Elderslie, was seriously injured when he was struck by a White Mercedes Sprinter van while crossing Dimity Street in Johnstone.

The incident happened at the junction with High Street at 12:30 on Thursday.

Mr Webster died in the Southern General Hospital in Glasgow on Friday. The 61-year-old van driver was not injured. Police have appealed for witnesses.

A report has been submitted to the procurator fiscal.
