Derek McInulty missing: Body found in water in Eaglesham
Mr McInulty's family said his disappearance was out of character
Police investigating the disappearance of a man in East Renfrewshire believe they have found his body in water close to where he was last seen.
Derek McInulty, 48, from Burnbank, Hamilton, was last seen leaving a newsagents in Eaglesham on 3 January.
His silver Suzuki Swift was found in water near to Holehouse Road in Eaglesham on Thursday and a man's body has now been recovered.
A post-mortem examination will be held to establish how he died.
The development comes a day after the hotel porter's wife and stepson made an appeal for help in tracing him.
Mr McInulty was last seen at about 07:00 on 3 January at RS McColl's in Glasgow Road, Eaglesham.
He was there to pick up newspapers for the nearby Eglinton Arms Hotel, where he worked as a porter.
Mr McInulty had not been seen since leaving the shop. His last sighting was during extreme storms across the west of Scotland.
According to police, the 48-year-old had some worries over money but there was nothing to suggest he had been the victim of criminality.
