Four people rescued from Port Glasgow tenement blaze
Four people have been rescued from a fire at a block of tenement flats in Port Glasgow, Inverclyde.
Fire crews were called to the scene in Bouverie Street at 23:25 on Tuesday.
They found a blaze in the ground floor close and several residents leaning from their windows shouting for help.
A man and woman were rescued from a ground floor window and another two women were led to safety from their first floor flat by firefighters wearing breathing apparatus.
Strathclyde Fire and Rescue said the casualties were treated at the scene by paramedics.Smoke inhalation
Two of the women suffered from smoke inhalation and were taken to Inverclyde Royal Hospital for a precautionary check up.
Two fire appliances from Port Glasgow fire station and a third appliance from Greenock fire station attended the blaze.
Six firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the building to fight the fire and lead residents to safety.
Strathclyde Fire and Rescue and Strathclyde Police have launched a joint investigation into the cause of the blaze.
