Murder bid panto actor found dead at home in Dunlop

Sleeping Beauty poster Mr McNair was due to perform in the Dunlop Players pantomime

An actor dropped from a Christmas pantomime after being charged with attempting to kill a fellow performer has been found dead.

The body of Cameron McNair, 43, was discovered at his home in Dunlop, East Ayrshire.

He had been on bail since appearing at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court last month charged with assaulting a woman to her injury and attempting to murder her.

He had been due to star in the Dunlop Players production of Sleeping Beauty.

A spokeswoman for Strathclyde Police said a report would be sent to the procurator fiscal following the discovery of a 43-year-old man's body at a house in Livingston Terrace, Dunlop.

She added: "The death is not being treated as suspicious."
