More than £10,000 stolen in Ayrshire shop and ATM raid
More than £10,000 has been stolen from a shop and ATM which were broken into in North Ayrshire.
Police said at least two men were involved in the break-in and theft from RS McColls in West Doura Court, Kilwinning, at about 23:35 on Tuesday.
They were wearing dark clothing, masks and gloves, and were in and out of the shop "over a prolonged period".
Detectives described the theft as "rather audacious" and believe the men had transport and equipment with them.
'Generated noise'Det Con Nicola Fraser, from Strathclyde Police, said: "The crime would have generated noise to overcome the security of the premises and ATM.
"The area around the shop is residential and so any noise which was out of the ordinary would surely have alerted someone in the area.
"We know the men were in the area of the shop for some time, so people may have either seen or heard them, or a vehicle, near to the shop after it had closed for business."
Det Con Fraser asked anyone with information to contact police.
