Appeal over hit-and-run death of cyclist in Glasgow

Police have appealed for witnesses after a 22-year-old cyclist was killed in a hit-and-run incident on a Glasgow street during evening rush hour.

The man was cycling on to Paisley Road West from Portman Street, when he was struck by a small dark-coloured car, at 17:45 on Monday.

The westbound car continued driving west towards Paisley.

The victim, whose name has not been released, died a short time later in the nearby Southern General Hospital.

The road was closed for about six hours following the incident.

Strathclyde Police said extensive inquiries were ongoing into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

An incident room has been set up at the road policing department at Helen Street, Glasgow.
