New name for RSAMD arts academy
The Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (RSAMD) has changed its name to the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
The name was chosen after consultation with students, teachers and industry professionals, who felt it helped reflect all the training provided.
Its name and remit has changed many times since it was launched in 1847 by Charles Dickens.
And it now offers specialist training in dance, drama, music, production, screen and education.
The new name has been approved by patron Prince Charles and paid for by a private donation.
Musicians, singers and other artists will mark the name change with 30 days of performances across the country - including appearances at the Scottish Parliament, Pitlochry Highland Games and the Falkirk Wheel.
