Murder hunt after River Leven body find

A murder inquiry has been launched after the body of a 35-year-old man was pulled from the River Leven.

A post-mortem examination is being carried out on Michael Herbison who was found near the Dalquhurn Estate at about 20:00 on Tuesday.

The discovery was made after a police search which was responding to reports of a missing man from the Renton area.

Strathclyde Police are now carrying out door-to-door inquiries and looking at CCTV footage.

Det Insp Mark Stewart said: "At this time there are extensive police inquiries ongoing in the local area to establish the exact details surrounding this death.

"Officers are carrying out house-to-house enquiries and gathering CCTV footage in an effort to glean more information."
