Man dies after crashing onto railway line

A 47-year-old man has died after his car left the road and landed on a railway line in West Dunbartonshire.

The man's green Subaru Impreza left the northbound A82, near the Renton sliproad, at about 1800 BST on Sunday.

It went down an embankment and came to rest on the Dumbarton to Balloch railway line, which was closed for about five hours following the crash.

The man died at the scene. Police want to trace a black-coloured car which was travelling north at the time of crash.

Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.
