Man rescued after dog gorge fall in Ayrshire
A man was helped to safety after he got stuck while trying to rescue his dog from the bottom of a gorge.
The dog, thought to be a Labrador, had fallen to the bottom of a gorge at Failford, near Mauchline in Ayrshire, at 1935 BST on Wednesday.
Clyde Coastguard sent its own search and rescue team, which then called for a Royal Navy helicopter from Prestwick.
But the helicopter was not able to help the man and the coastguard teams brought both the man and dog to safety.
A spokeswoman said the man had become trapped half way up the gorge after going to the dog's rescue when it fell.
She said: "We had two teams who had rope rescue equipment to bring the guy back up.
"It was thought the dog was badly injured but a vet on the scene has seen him and he appears to be ok."
