Morton footballer Derek Lyle in court over drug dealing

A Greenock Morton football player has appeared in court charged with drug dealing.

Derek Lyle, 30, and his girlfriend Nicola Mullen, 29, were both charged with being concerned in the supply of illegal substances.

The couple's home in Bishopbriggs was raided by police officers on Friday and they were taken into custody.

They appeared in private at Glasgow Sheriff Court and made no plea or declaration.

Mr Lyle and Ms Mullen, who have a young child, were both released on bail and will appear for a full committal next week.

The striker, who has also played for Hamilton Academical, Dundee and Queen of the South, joined Greenock Morton in January.
