A young Ayrshire musician has been reunited with her prized violin days after it was stolen during a break-in at her family home.

Police said the instrument was returned anonymously and left at the house in Dalry on Tuesday night.

The teenage girl, who was previously invited to play with Nicola Benedetti, is said to be "delighted".

Officers are still trying to trace who was responsible for the break-in, which happened between 2 and 3 April.
