Pedestrian killed by lorry on M8

A pedestrian has been killed on the M8 motorway between Glasgow and Edinburgh.

Police said the man was struck by a lorry near Harthill services on the westbound carriageway at about 2115 BST on Sunday.

The carriageway was closed while investigators attended the scene.

A Strathclyde Police spokesman said: "On arrival of the emergency services it was confirmed that a male had been struck by a passing heavy goods vehicle, resulting in his death."
