Man critically injured after attack in Edinburgh

A 31-year-old man has been critically injured after being attacked in Edinburgh.

The assault happened in Drumbryden Grove in the Wester Hailes area of the city at about 16:30 on Friday.

He has a life-threatening injury and is being treated at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.

Det Ch Insp Cunningham said: "The victim is fighting for life in hospital and we are keen to hear from anyone who has information."

Chief Inspector Mark Rennie added: "I'd like to reassure residents that at this stage this appears to be an isolated incident.

"A detailed investigation has been ongoing since it happened and we will have officers in the area throughout the weekend to reassure the local residents and carry out further inquiries."

Anyone who has information or saw anything suspicious in the area should contact police.
