An image of a man police wish to trace in connection with a serious assault that took place last year has been released.

The incident took place outside Whistle Binkie's pub on South Bridge at about 01:00 on 12 August 2013.

The man is white, between 5ft 11ins and 6ft 2ins tall, of medium build and has short mousy brown hair.

He has a tattoo on his lower left arm, which read, "Bradley" and speaks with a Northern Irish accent.

It is believed he may be in the military or have worked during last summer's Edinburgh Tattoo.

Police are appealing for anyone who recognises him to come forward.

Det Con Joanne Robertson, of Police Scotland, said: "The victim suffered a double fracture to her arm as a result of this incident.

"We wish to speak to the man in the footage in connection with our enquiries and anyone who can assist in identifying him is asked to come forward.

"Similarly, we would ask this individual to get in touch with police and help with our investigation."
